What is Access to Work?

Access to Work is a government initiative run by the Department for Work and Pensions designed to support individuals with disabilities, including ADHD and autism, in accessing and maintaining employment. This scheme helps overcome barriers, ensuring individuals can thrive in their professional environments.

Who Can Apply?

You are eligible to apply for Access to Work if you:

  • Are 16 years or older
  • Live in the UK
  • Are in full-time or part-time employment, or self-employed
  • Have a disability, such as ADHD, autism, or other neurodiverse conditions as defined by the Equality Act

The scheme provides grants to businesses to help meet the costs of employing disabled individuals, ensuring compliance with the Equality Act.

What Could You Receive?

  • Coaching: Typically they offer funding for 12 sessions and this can be extended to 24
  • Ongoing Support: Weekly sessions with a dedicated support worker
  • Mental Health Counselling: Remote monthly counselling lasting up to 9 months
  • Adaptive Equipment: Tools like noise-cancelling headphones, dyslexia software, and more
  • Ergonomic Solutions: Specialised chairs and sit-stand desks for a comfortable work environment

Join our ADHD Access to Work Support Group

Navigating the Access to Work scheme can be daunting—but you’re not alone! Our support group provides valuable advice, peer support, and helpful information on securing ADHD coaching, support workers, and equipment.

Monthly Meetings

  • When: Every 3rd Wednesday of the month, starting on October 16th, 2024
  • Time: 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM
  • Where: Online via Zoom

 

Connect with others facing similar challenges, swap tips, and gain insights from a community that understands your experience. Whether you need help with applying, reclaiming costs, or managing the scheme’s administration, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

How to Attend

To join one of our meetings, simply purchase a ticket from the listings below. We suggest a donation of £5 to help fund our peer support initiatives, but we also accept a minimum donation of £1—whatever you can afford. Once your ticket is purchased, you’ll receive the Zoom link via email.
