October marks ADHD Awareness Month, an important time to raise awareness about ADHD and the challenges faced by those affected. ADHD is estimated to impact 3-6% of the population in the UK, yet only a small percentage receive adequate treatment. Unfortunately, many people wait years for assessment and services, as outlined in this Consensus Statement on the failures of healthcare provision.
At Neurodiversity UK, we support this national effort to highlight the importance of accessible ADHD services.

ADHD affects millions in the UK, yet so many still struggle with long waits for assessment and support. At Neurodiversity UK, we’re
passionate about raising awareness and taking action to help the community thrive. 🌟
We’re kicking things off with two brand-new events designed to empower and support you:
1. ADHD Access to Work Support Group
The Access to Work scheme helps Neurodiverse individuals, amongst others, receive funding for Coaching, specialist
equipment, and Support Workers. However, navigating the Access to Work scheme can be tricky—but you don’t have to do it alone!
Join us for our new support group, where we’ll help you access this vital service. This group will meet every 3rd Wednesday of the month on Zoom, starting October 16th 2024.
Together, we’ll make sure you get the support you deserve! 🛠️

2. Neurodivergent Men’s Support Group
Calling all Neurodivergent men and those identifying as Men! 🚀
Men, particularly, Neurodivergent Men and those with ADHD, face some unique challenges and difficulties in the modern world, such as:
· Men with ADHD (ADD) live 13 years less, on average, than then their Neurotypical Peers. Plus their life chances and opportunities are statistically worse as well! (SEE HERE)
· In 2021, over 7 in 10 suicides (73%) in England were of Men.
In fact, suicide is the SINGLE biggest killer of young Men under 50! (SEE HERE)
Obviously, also being Neurodivergent additionally adds its own unique challenges!
So we are piloting a peer-led Support Group for Men (and those that identify as Men) who also identify as being Neurodivergent.
This is an opportunity to feel understood, share experiences, hear others’ stories, explore strategies together and, hopefully, reduce any feelings of isolation that Men often experience. We will meet every 4th Thursday of the month on Zoom, kicking off on October 24th. Don’t miss it! 💪
